Healthy Turkey Chili

When I still had post-baby weight to lose, every Monday night I would watch The Biggest Loser. I found show motivational and relatable. One episode, there was healthy turkey chili recipe made and that recipe became a staple in our house, for over 5 years now. This ground turkey chili is healthier than its traditional counterparts because it’s made with leaner turkey instead of beef, chock full of vegetables and uses simple preservative-free spices like organic taco seasoning and chili powder (=> 3 must have homemade spice recipes)….

Slow Cooker Whole Chicken and Pasta

I always buy whole chicken, organic at Costco or from my local farmer, because it is much cheaper than buying chicken parts. All my boys LOVE my grandma’s slow cooker chicken noodle soup and last time Alex went to Costco, he got a 2 pack of organic whole chickens. I had one left in a freezer and decided to try making slow cooker whole chicken with rosemary, lemon, garlic and pasta. All magic happens right in a slow cooker. Hear me out how. No, I didn’t cook pasta for 8 hours in…

Slow Cooker Thai Chicken Thighs

I’m keeping things really chill this busy time of the year. Simple recipes like this 2 ingredients slow cooker Thai chicken thighs, slow cooker whole chicken and crockpot butter chicken help me get things done and family fed not with cookies. On Monday morning I literally was shopping Cyber Monday deals while browning chicken. That is one ingredient. Another one I already had in a fridge – Thai sweet chili sauce. It just never fails me. Just like my slow cooker. The only sweet deal I scooped up on a…

Slow Cooker Porcupine Meatballs with Brown Rice

My Monday morning was unrolling so lovely. I was looking forward to working on these slow cooker porcupine meatballs post after posting my first ever What I Ate Weekend post. Kids were up early due to a time change. No rain. Laundry in. Lovely. Everything was going lovely. I even texted Alex how lovely our weekend was (we even started a 1000 piece puzzle which I think I’m the only one excited about, girls vs. boys) and how blessed we are. Amen. A beeping noise from upstairs and our…

Crock Pot Stuffed Pepper Casserole

I didn’t think stuffed pepper casserole cooked in a slow cooker for hours could be possible. I just didn’t know what would happen to the brown rice. But I got so many questions on my lazy cabbage rolls from readers asking if it can be cooked in a slow cooker that I had to try. I will attempt the lazy cabbage rolls in a slow cooker one day but for now I was craving unstuffed bell peppers casserole. In a sense, both dishes are similar – meat, rice and veggies cooked in…

Slow Cooker Balsamic Pot Roast

I did not have a pot roast recipe on iFOODreal until now because I never cooked one. For a million reasons. The biggest one because it seems such an Americanized recipe with an onion soup mix or whatever that is (you got me) that is against my clean eating religion. Then I rarely buy beef because my mom has been supplying us with venison. Venison needs special extra care so I didn’t want to mislead anyone saying recipe will work with beef. Well, it would definitely work but how…

Green Lentil Curry

This green lentil curry made with green lentils, coconut milk, tomato paste and spices is an old-old recipe of mine that was screaming for picture makeovers. I also re-tested it to make stovetop and slow cooker friendly. So, you have 2 options depending whether you want to come back home to “an Indian restaurant” or rather quickly whip it up on a stovetop while sipping on a glass of wine and listening to Frank Sinatra. The latter is my favourite way to cook (sans wine most times of course)…

Slow Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala

Just look at this slow cooker chicken tikka masala! Low and slow or high (hi) and bye. Fall and busy life quickly reminded me about my abandoned during summer months friend – slow cooker. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, better in the world than coming home from an ice rink to a warm cooked dinner waiting for you on a counter!!! If you work you must own a slow cooker. It can prepare Slow Cooker Thai Chicken Thighs and Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Chili. OK, it sounds better than a husband because…

Easy Turkey Meatballs

I think I can speak for everyone and say “We all love meatballs!”. Here are healthy meatballs I made so far: slow cooker porcupine meatballs in clear sauce, Mexican turkey meatballs, turkey quinoa meatballs and even meatless meatballs with Parmesan (no one will know). When I told my kids I’m making meatballs for dinner, the eyes exploded with fireworks. I recently was at Ikea and saw their new vegetarian meatballs, and then their traditional meat meatballs which apparently are now made with more sustainably raised meat. Thanks for trying,…
