Oatmeal cookies are one of my favourites. And I can’t control myself near dark chocolate. I eat peanut butter for breakfast every day. Coconut oil – can’t get enough of it. Alex uses it even for cooking steak. And I recently found these Bob’s Red Mill Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats. So really, I had all ingredients on hand to put these cookies together for us. And another great thing – no extra bowls to mess, just one! These chocolate cookies are one of my favourite quick cookies…

Healthy gingersnap or ginger molasses cookies that are chewy, spicy and moist. And they are vegan, which is a bonus. If you are out of butter and eggs, you can still make these healthy cookies. You just need Earth’s Balance Whipped Buttery Spread which is widely available and is fantastic on a toast. So, keep it on hand. I do not follow any specific diet. For a change and health reasons, I like to change things up and skip dairy and meat products occasionally. In fact, all of…

Lately, I have been making baby greens salad with pomegranate and kids eating them. The poms, not the salads. I don’t have magic kids who eat kale salads. So, a lot of pommies. I guess because it’s Alex “deconstructing” them and not me. He Googled the how-to video. I don’t know where to find it.;) And lately, I have been cooking vegan…um, a lot – this Healthy Caramel Popcorn, those Almond Flour Thumbprint Cookies and now this salad. Many people are not the fans of kale in salads, or kale…

This Holiday Season I am so in line with the majority of North American population – I’m already baking, got a menu for the next 30 days, Christmas shopping list is in my iPhone, Alex installed the lights on the house and an inflatable Santa is waving from my porch. I should post a photo of my perfect Russian crazy home.;) I made and froze these almond flour thumbprint cookies at the end of November and they are all long gone by now. I don’t know why but…

This healthy caramel popcorn is the bomb dot com. It turned out PERFECT = sweet caramel sauce coating each and every crispy popped kernel. It’s going down my mouth too easy. This clean, vegan and gluten free sweet popcorn costs a fraction and is healthy. Plus it’s easy to make at home. My biggest issue with commercial popcorn is that it’s full of artificial stuff. Problem solved. Recently I said good bye to microwave popcorn bags and welcomed stovetop organic popcorn into my life. It might be no news to…

I love carrot cake. If you are not a master cake baker like me, then you will love baking this healthy carrot cake in a loaf pan. It will look and taste just like a cake without the hassle of making and the guilt of eating it. You don’t even need to use a mixer. There is something special about the carrot cake. I guess it’s the carrots combined with fragrant spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, and wrapped in a moist whole wheat dough. The carrot cake has to…

The key to a good chicken noodle soup is clear chicken broth. I have been making chicken noodle soup and other kinds of clear soups for many years. My mom and grandma used to make them a lot. In fact, we never had creamy soups and the only non-clear soups we ate were green split pea soup and Ukrainian borscht. So, making a turkey or chicken broth based soup is like a second nature to me, I can make it in my sleep.

You know my love for energy bars and how picky I get when it comes to commercial bars. And Barre real food bars passed the test. Created by professional dancers, Aaron and Julia, using only real ingredients that you can pronounce. And they are delicious! My favourite one is ballerina spirulina and Alex loved black swan chocolate berry. Use their store locator to find the bars near you. One lucky winner will receive 4 bars of each flavour, 12 bars total. Open to US residents only.

Mixed baby greens salad with fresh pomegranate arils, roasted pecans, soft goat cheese and zesty green onion. Drizzled with delicious homemade mango dressing. This healthy salad is so colourful, I wanted to call it a Christmas Salad. And I obviously forgot to add green onions. I made this salad past weekend for an Italian dinner at our friend’s house. It was a hit even among the kids who loved the fruity & sweet mango dressing and my kids love pomegranate. This baby greens salad is great for get…

You guys will be proud of me! I made us some pretty clean Coconut Brussels Sprouts with Balsamic Glaze recipe. I grew up without these mini cabbages and frankly didn’t know how to cook them. Last Christmas I tried Jamie Oliver’s recipe with bacon and something else, and honestly was not impressed. Sorry, Jamie. I think it’s me and bacon. Since then I decided to keep brussels sprouts kinda on a vegetable side.
