Sigh. Getting my shield and armour out and diving into this controversial topic of What Is Clean Eating. But for REALZ because I hate BS. You know that. Running a clean eating food blog for 4 years now, I think I’m a bit overdue with clearly explaining what do I preach in my temple. I explain a bit here but I feel like a bigger statement should take place now and put an end to media’s BS. Clean Eating’s False Bad Rep Clean eating was the fastest growing…

Christmas 2016 came and went. We baked cookies, sang carols, listened to Frank, drank hot chocolate, jumped in a hot tub, sipped on wine and even boarded our own Polar express for an annual family light tour. It snowed!!! We got a true white Christmas! We skied the Christmas Eve with clear skies on empty slopes. It was magical! Kids can ski – no babies, no babysitters and no lessons. It was magical! Santa came. Santa was good this year. He worked hard. Boys were happy. It was…

A few months ago, I shared how I grew up in Ukraine which many of you have enjoyed and told me were sad when it was over. Well, what a better time than Christmas to share my “fresh off the boat” story with you. I am all cooked out, you are all shopped out, and probably holidays is really the only time you have time to read. No new recipes till January 1st. So, grab a cup of jo with Bailey’s or not and enjoy. Christmas always brings back memories…

Friday Night Weekend started with the most unappetizing food photo ever. Welcome to life with kids! And if you decide to have 2+ kids you will really find out how your reality with 1 kid, or even better no kids, was a freaking dream life. My 5 year old “cooked” himself a dessert with healthy Nutella, almonds and chocolate chips and then decided he was full. Of course, mommy gets the leftovers because daddy would never eat that. Oh, the things mommy is willing to do. After dessert,…

After promising this no bake nutella pie recipe a bazillion of times, it is finally here. It ended up being easier said than done in December. Amazing how time gets “eaten” by what we have to do vs. what we would rather do. But I finally did it – “baked”, photographed and “gave birth” online to this healthy chocolate hazelnut pie. Prepare to be amazed because nobody on the whole entire world wide web has got nothing on my pie! I checked and was pleasantly surprised since entire online…

Well, hi. I’m back. On Thursday, I fell a victim of a nasty cold, took Laurel’s advice to rest and then snow came in on Friday. Which is a very hard problem to understand for the rest of North America in December, I get it. But just so you know, if it snows in Vancouver life STOPS. It equals to almost the end of the world because it snows in PNW once every 10 years. But because of La Nina we got snow. And that is why I…

Well, hi. How are you holding up these days? I’m beyond exhausted. When I say it, I mean it. I can handle a lot and now I’m hanging by a thread. I start dreaming of bedtime at noon now. Long story short it seems like anytime I think I did it all an essential item that has to be done like making dinner or packing lunch pops up. I have already eliminated all non-life threatening activities. I have done zero Christmas shopping at the store. I haven’t been to…

Woof, what a craziness this time of the year is. Alex suggests if I stop washing windows at same time as decluttering kitchen while decorating the house for Christmas, life will be much easier. I agree, in theory. So, really it is all my fault. I agree again. I have been really going with the flow and taking not one day at a time but one hour at a time. In other words, snacking on rum balls and lunching with black bean nachos. As you can tell, in…

Until today, if you asked my boys what are their most vivid Christmas memories besides a psychic Santa at the mall (thanks to a bluetooth ear piece) and going on a West Coast Express Santa train downtown to drink free hot chocolate and juice at daddy’s work, they would have said “Mom listening to Frank Sinatra non-stop”. And they would have also added immediately “She listens to him all year round!!!”. Every July Adam asks me “Mommy, why are you listening to Christmas music in summer?”. Well, what can I…

I’m keeping things really chill this busy time of the year. Simple recipes like this 2 ingredients slow cooker Thai chicken thighs, slow cooker whole chicken and crockpot butter chicken help me get things done and family fed not with cookies. On Monday morning I literally was shopping Cyber Monday deals while browning chicken. That is one ingredient. Another one I already had in a fridge – Thai sweet chili sauce. It just never fails me. Just like my slow cooker. The only sweet deal I scooped up on a…
