We have reached the point of our month long Mexican vacation when we can’t think of tacos being the next meal, are super lazy to drive anywhere or even lift a finger to unload a dishwasher. Boys are dreaming of getting back to school and sports, I’m dreaming of being by myself at least a few hours a day, and Alex would stay here for another month. So yes, it is possible to get tired of doing nothing and I feel finally rested. While sitting by the pool and…

When you travel to Cabo San Lucas by plane you actually land in San Jose Del Cabo airport. 10-15 minute drive and you are in San Jose Del Cabo – a small town with a cobblestone streets centre, a few big stores and a hotel zone along white sandy beach, emerald blue water and the most beautiful waves ever. A 25 minute drive to Cabo San Lucas is called a tourist corridor, and then you arrive into Cabo itself. So, this is what Baja California peninsula is about for…

When we decided to pause our traditional vacation route, an all-inclusive resort (the best option with small kids IMHO) and try to live for a month in Mexico, we knew we had to rent a place. Being completely new to any rental market (we have owned for years now), we were not quite sure what we were looking for but one thing we knew for sure – our condo had to be beachfront with an ocean view. I poked a bit around VRBO website right after we got back…

We have been on our life changing almost month long vacation in Mexico for 18 days now. Time sure does fly when you are having fun. We finally left our compound to go to the farmers market for the second time. The heat and the fact that it is nearly impossible to suggest any other activity to the boys besides the pool and beach (once they are loaded in the van it is all good though), make me and Alex super lazy. Honestly, I don’t even feel like posting any…

Downtown Cabo San Lucas On Sunday, we ventured out to explore downtown Cabo San Lucas, visit Medano Beach and go for dinner. The main mall, Puerto Paraiso, was just a mall, very Americanized with nothing special we haven’t seen before. We bought kids overpriced ice cream and went for a very warm walk by the marina, where we saw the cutest “show” ever: seal begging for fish carcasses as fishermen were  dealing with their catch of the day. We quickly got tired of intoxicated almost naked spring breakers, pushy sales people…

Last week on our second day in Los Cabos, we ended up at the Monuments Beach to hit the waves in our own style. This is when I snapped beautiful sunset photos while boys were getting swim trunks full of sand. Boys have never jumped in such of magnitude waves and they were thrilled. Monuments Beach is located just a few miles from downtown Cabo and is known as a small surfer’s beach. You gotta be an experienced surfer as there are quite a few rocks around. Monuments…

Santa Maria Beach is a 5 minute drive from our condo in Los Cabos, Mexico. This side of Pacific Ocean is quite rocky with high waves making sheltered beaches, like Santa Maria, with calm waters and white sand a true gift for kids and snorkelling. We arrived in our van around 9AM before the tour boats with crowds of tourists. At first, water is every cold this time of the year but after about 20 minutes standing waist deep I gave in and got used to it, especially once…

Renting a condo versus staying at an all-inclusive resort means we have to do our own cooking. I’m still deciding how I feel about it because the last thing I want to do on vacation is to cook. But this time I had no choice because we came down to Mexico for a month versus traditional week or two at the resort, it was my sacrifice. We have a van that we rent from our condo’s owners, so we can go out. It is definitely a must with…

To get a full picture, you can read about our decision to travel to Mexico for longer than a week in an all-inclusive resort and about our first days in Los Cabos. Last night we went to the surfer’s beach. While all 3 boys, big and small, were jumping in the waves and stuffing pockets with sand, I snapped about 50 photos of about 20 stages of sunset in Los Cabos within an hour. You will be grateful I am sharing only 4 or 5. It is a full moon and…

Hola from beautiful sunny Los Cabos, Mexico! It is +29C and never ending sunny forecast with a refreshing breeze (no need for AC – yay), and at home, in Vancouver, it is snowing. We made it here safe and sound, and are slowly adjusting to a new pace of life, which is completely weird compared to craziness at home, and I’m just popping in for an update. If you don’t know, we went to live in Mexico for a month. Life is short, make every day count. After…
