This easy strawberry mango salsa is sweet and savory with a little bit of spice! Or a lot, if that’s your flava. Made with fresh sweet strawberries and mango, creamy avocado, cilantro, and zesty lime juice, this refreshing take on a classic salsa is sensational!

You’ll love it on everything. It’s perfect as a condiment on grilled fish tacos, chicken quesadillas, or vegetarian quesadillas, burritos, and to top healthy black bean burgers!

However, truth be told, I dare you to resist eating it by the spoonful!

Easy strawberry mango salsa can be served as a side, a snack, a dip, or an appetizer. It’s one everyone will love and is usually the first thing to go! The beautiful colors are sure to impress at all your summer BBQs, Cinco de Mayo, or 4th of July parties.

Ingredients You Will Need

Using a ton of readily available produce, whether from your grocery store, a market, or your garden!

  • Sliced strawberries: Look for plump, red, sweet smelling strawberries. I always recommend buying organic whenever possible.
  • Diced mango: Ripe mangoes will have a little give when pressed gently. They will have a sweet smell to them and no discoloration on the skin.
  • Diced avocado: A creamy component, you want it ripe but not too mushy.
  • Minced onion: Use whatever type of onion you want. Red onion is always nice to eat raw as it’s a little sweeter than regular white onions.
  • Finely chopped jalapeno: However many seeds you leave in there is up to you! The more you leave, the spicier it will be. For a mild strawberry mango salsa, remove all the seeds.
  • Chopped cilantro: A delicious pop of color and herbaceous addition.
  • Lime juice: A citrusy flavor that packs a zesty punch. It’s such a great balance to the sweetness and also helps to create juices to help the flavors marry.
  • Salt: Draws out the natural sweet juices and flavors of all the combined ingredients.
  • Tabasco or red hot pepper flakes: If you like a little heat, add in either option!

How to Make Strawberry Mango Salsa

This easy strawberry mango salsa can be made in minutes!

When you’re dicing everything, consider the size of the fruit. You want everything to be uniform size so that way you don’t have large chunks of one thing while other things are getting lost. Some of everything in every bite is what you want.

Also, ask yourself…do you like your salsa chunky or fine?

The jalapeno you’ll chop up finely, so no need to worry about making them the same size.

Add everything into a medium bowl, and give it a gentle toss. Do a little taste test and then adjust the salt and spiciness to taste. Voila!

Tips for Best Results

  • Make ahead. You can make this easy strawberry mango salsa a few hours ahead. The longer it sits the more the flavors will come together. The lime juice will help to prevent the avocado from turning brown.
  • Ripeness. You want ripe fruit, but not overly fruit. Once the fruit is overripe it can quickly get soft and eventually mushy.
  • Just the right size. Whether you want larger chunks or smaller chunks, just make sure they’re all the same size. As mentioned above, the jalapeno is the exception! Chop it finely so that it’s not overwhelming.

Can I Make It Without the Spice?

Definitely! It will still be sweet and savory and citrusy, so you can’t go wrong with that. Eliminate the jalapeno altogether or just use it without any of the seeds for a mild version.

This would be a great way to serve with something like Thai salmon that already has a bit of heat to it.

Delicious Ways To Use This Salsa

There are tons of ways to enjoy any salsa recipe and not just for dipping chips. I love to serve this one as part of a big party spread alongside all kinds of dishes like:

What onions are best for salsa?

I recommend red onion when using it raw in a recipe with a sweet component. Unless it specifies otherwise! It’s sweeter, milder, less pungent, and adds great flavor with that delicious crispy texture.

How can I add flavor to salsa?

Add a little sweetness to the lime juice by combining it with a little bit of honey or maple syrup. The warm flavor of cinnamon would be a nice addition.

How to Store It

This strawberry salsa is best served on the same day. I’m sure you won’t have difficulty using it all up! While you’re waiting to serve it, keep it stored in the fridge for the day. Cover it with plastic wrap and allow the flavors to just get stronger and better!

Ingredients  

  • 1 cup strawberries diced
  • 1 medium mango diced
  • 1 medium avocado diced
  • 2 tbsp onion minced
  • 1 jalapeño seeded and finely chopped (leave some seeds for spiciness)
  • 1/2 cup cilantro chopped
  • 1/2 lime juice of
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Tabasco or red hot pepper flakes to taste (optional)

Instructions 

  • In a medium bowl, add strawberries, mango, avocado, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, lime and salt.
  • Gently stir with a spoon to combine. Adjust salt and spiciness to taste. Serve with chips or grilled meats.

    1. Sure. Just mix everything together.
      2 cups fresh blueberries
      2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
      2 tbsp fresh mint, finely chopped
      2 tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
      2 tsp chili powder
      2 tbsp agave nectar
      2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice

    A. Maze. Ing. This is my new favorite salsa! The only things I left out were the optional ingredients; hot sauce and pepper flakes because….1) hot sauce usually alters the flavor of things and 2) I used two jalapenos and they were plenty hot! It complimented your “Grilled Fish Tacos” perfectly, but I would eat this on its own by the spoonful or just with tortilla chips. It would be great as a snack / appetizer or light lunch. This recipe is definitely a keeper!!

I finally was happy to put a face to your name.:) Although I do not have any health issues, like you I find a hard time to commit to any plan or diet. I eat clean and healthy, all in moderation. I noticed lately I bake mostly vegan and gluten free, just by accident. But I wouldn’t mind to eat plain Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I use only a bit of milk for coffee and barely eat cheese. All organic of course. Just wanted to say hi.:) Love your recipes!
