Healthy No Bake Nutella Pie

After promising this no bake nutella pie recipe a bazillion of times, it is finally here. It ended up being easier said than done in December. Amazing how time gets “eaten” by what we have to do vs. what we would rather do. But I finally did it – “baked”, photographed and “gave birth” online to this healthy chocolate hazelnut pie. Prepare to be amazed because nobody on the whole entire world wide web has got nothing on my pie! I checked and was pleasantly surprised since entire online…

Healthy Rum Balls

Until today, if you asked my boys what are their most vivid Christmas memories besides a psychic Santa at the mall (thanks to a bluetooth ear piece) and going on a West Coast Express Santa train downtown to drink free hot chocolate and juice at daddy’s work, they would have said “Mom listening to Frank Sinatra non-stop”. And they would have also added immediately “She listens to him all year round!!!”. Every July Adam asks me “Mommy, why are you listening to Christmas music in summer?”. Well, what can I…

Smoky Butternut Squash Quinoa Salad

I keep working on my relationship with butternut squash. I made a rule to buy it every few weeks and just “go for it” in the kitchen. Today in a form of butternut squash quinoa salad with dried fruits, smoked paprika and buttery warm dressing. Where paprika is not just paprika and “butter” is not really a butter.

Anti-Inflammatory Red Smoothie

Tasty, pretty and healthy red smoothie with raw beets, juicy strawberries and a generous dose of healthy fats from coconut oil. Beets: the antioxidant betalain gives them their signature color and is an excellent anti-inflammatory. When added to the diet, beet benefits include repairing cells and adding high levels of inflammation-fighting potassium and magnesium (Source).

Healthy Gingerbread Fudge

As much as I do not like to add “Clean Eating” in front of the recipe’s name, this time I have to in order to let you know this gingerbread fudge does not contain condensed milk or loads of sugar. Instead, my healthy gingerbread fudge is loaded with healthy fats and is naturally sweetened. The sacrifice is you have to keep it frozen and serve right before enjoyment. So, put on your cutest apron, quickly zoom between the guests and stack it back in the freezer.

No Bake Banana Cream Pie

Have I ever mentioned how hard it is to be an immigrant?! You are not “there” and not “here”. Honestly, I will never be “here” 100% and I am OK with that. We love where we live but we will never be true Canadians like our children who were born here and have absorbed this culture from Day 1. Me and Alex talk about it often…Immigration has impacted our social lives greatly but it was the sacrifice, and we finally have found a way to enjoy ourselves in the…

No Bake Black Bean Brownies

Cacao Nibs Brownie Bites Recipe

If you need a late afternoon kick in the butt, these Cacao Nibs Brownie Bites are for you. I have an issue with a word “balls” lately, for example moist balls, let’s stick to bites… So, this cacao nibs recipe is naturally sweetened and full of a caffeine kick from raw cacao powder and cacao nibs crunch. I just love the crunch, so more brain satisfying than just a smooth snack. Skip metabolism and sleep scrutinizing cup of coffee, and stay away from messing with your brain processed sugars. Have…

Clean Baked Banana Nut Oatmeal Bars

These oatmeal bars is another favourite quick breakfast of mine. I have quite a collection by now, which you can check out under Breakfast category. These bars are also very similar to Banana Protein Oatmeal Cups but without protein powder. I love having oats for breakfast because they are not wheat (everything in moderation) and cook quickly. I usually would pour boiling water over quick oats for a few minutes, then top with yogurt and fruits. These banana oatmeal bars are a baked alternative to traditional oatmeal. Naturally sweetened with bananas…

Guilt Free Chocolate Fudge Cake

Decadence and health are the utmost right words for this heavenly dessert! Made entirely with fruit and nut derived products. Yes, it’s rich in calories and should be consumed in moderation, but nothing can beat the nutrition and health benefits of plant based food. So, enjoy your slice and share a few. This chocolate cake was inspired by this video of children working in slavery on African plantations, harvesting cocoa for our first world kids Halloween candy, poisoned with chemicals and in shiny wrappers. Majority of which ends up in garbage on November…
