Buffalo Avocado Yogurt Dip

Warning: Completely random thoughts while whipping up majestic fluffy Buffalo avocado dip. Mixing romaine with hot sauce. Frank’s Red Hot sauce smells totally like a pub. Circa 2001. Along with beer, deep fryer’s grease and smoke. You could smoke in bars back then. How much of that did I inhale?! Hot sauce is yummy, the acidic vinegar smells gooooood. I am glad I didn’t add chicken. Anyone can just eat chicken. This dip should be totally veggie loaded. Shock the Super Bowl party food table. Whipping the yogurt with…

Oatmeal Protein Waffles

I’m excited to partner with new Burt’s Bees™ Plant Based Protein Shakes to make a bazillion oatmeal protein waffles. Which can’t be a bad thing, right?! Seriously, breakfast is my biggest struggle. I have said it many times. Usually I’m getting kids ready for school and have zero desire or time to eat. Once the kids are gone, I immediately work out or sit down to work. As a parent you know the value of time. Just like land, they don’t make any more of it. Honestly, breakfasts…

Frozen Greek Yogurt Bites

This post is in partnership with Curate snack bars full of super crunchy quinoa and other simple nutrient-dense ingredients. Good news is summer is unfolding better than I expected. In a sense that I don’t feel like pulling my hair out re: children on a summer break. Kids really grow up. There is truth to everyone saying that although you might not share their feelings at that moment. Yesterday I managed to shop with a friend for 3 hours. It cost me a cookie and an ice cream but…

Pina Colada Protein Milkshake

Let me tell you how I envision my healthy path in 2016 since we started talking about yours. I really upped my game in a smoothie department and I’m shocked how fun it is to whip up different smoothies! Like this pina colada protein milkshake with Nature’s Path Coconut Chia granola, frozen pineapple chunks and Greek yogurt…So-so-so good and who would think to add granola to a smoothie, right?! But it totally works making one heck of a healthy milkshake high in fat, fibre and protein without the protein powder.

Greek Yogurt Tartar Sauce

Last week, while cooking I was watching an episode of “In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita” and he was making a tartar sauce. What happened to good old cooking shows?! Prime TV time has been overtaken by cooking competitions which I personally do not like. I know it is a trend but I honestly do not find it fun to see how 3 people will stuff seaweed inside a chocolate cake to make it tasty. I miss good old cooking shows with Martha, Giada and Rachael. When I…

Healthy Poppy Seed Dressing

As soon as I whisked Greek yogurt with honey for this healthy poppy seed dressing recipe, and did a first taste test, it reminded me exactly of a bottled version I stopped buying years and years ago. Creamy, light, sweet, with a hint of onion and a sea of poppy seeds. There is not much more to say about this dressing except you gotta make it and pour over some organic vegetables, fruits and nuts of your choice. My version of a killer poppy seed dressing salad coming next!

Clean Eating Vanilla Cupcakes

These vanilla cupcakes came out perfect! Because Easter is around the corner, we decorated them with unsulphured and unsweetened organic coconut flakes (fancy grade) for “feathers” and organic naturally coloured jelly beans for “eggs”. Kids were ecstatic as I never made cupcakes before!:) I’m not a huge cake person and neither are my kids. They dislike the overly sweet icing but they sure love the cuteness of cupcakes. So, they were all over these cupcakes because they were up to their taste – mildly sweet and healthy (believe…

Clean Eating Creamy Kale Veggie Salad and Cooking in a Hotel

I have deep love and respect for kale! We eat it pretty much every day, in a form of green smoothie or salad, including kids (4 year old tolerates it only in smoothies – I will take it for now). Ever since we got a serious health condition in our immediate family (I might be able OK to talk about it one day), my love for kale has deepened even more! Kale is a powerful remedy against cancer: In addition to providing a truckload of vitamins and flavonoids, kale…

Clean Eating Cranberry Lemon Cheesecake Bars Recipe

One of the readers left a comment on Clean Eating Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake Bars saying she made them with Greek yogurt and cottage cheese instead of cream cheese. I was intrigued right away because it sounded healthier. I was raised on rich homemade cottage cheese that resembles American farmer’s cheese. My mom and grandma would make it by boiling buttermilk, then draining in a cheesecloth hanging on a tap overnight. The result was dry, pressed and crumbly cottage cheese that we would eat with freshly made sour cream from…

Greek Yogurt Chicken Alfredo Spaghetti Squash Boats

Spaghetti squash boats with chicken in creamy Alfredo sauce is comfort food made lighter by replacing traditional pasta with tender spaghetti squash and heavy cream with not less creamy but so much healthier Greek yogurt. Without sacrificing the flavour of course – garlic and freshly grated Parmesan cheese add so much flavour to this spaghetti squash boats recipe. I haven’t had Alfredo sauce for years! My blogger friend Alex from Canuck Cuisine once mentioned to add a cornstarch to Greek yogurt to prevent it from curdling. We were…
