Savoy Cabbage Salad

Ever since returning from San Francisco road trip, I have been living off of cold healthy brown rice pudding for breakfast, salads for dinner and healthy iced tea (recipe coming this week) in between. I came up with this savoy cabbage salad recipe one hot night when all there was in my fridge a savoy cabbage I couldn’t just pass by at the farm stand, empty veggie drawers and a container of Greek yogurt. I’m “addicted” to savoy cabbage this summer even though I have always thought of…

Greek Yogurt Potato Salad

Creamy healthy potato salad is possible with Greek yogurt and with a help of my Ukrainian heritage. I combined my childhood favourite egg, radish and cucumber salad with traditional North American potato salad, and the result is lighter and healthier potato salad without sacrificing the flavour. I tested recipe three times and me and my 10 year old (he is becoming one excellent cook with a dream of owning a food truck one day) agreed in unison that radishes and cucumbers add a delightful crunch, slicing potatoes in rounds…

Baked Oatmeal Breakfast Bars with Carrots

My right thumb’s knuckle can’t heal properly because I keep grating carrots day after day, baking oatmeal breakfast bars and scooping carrot cake truffles. As I grow up, the more I follow my heart – doing what makes me happy. And right now happy means a lot of carrots baked with a million of superfoods, topped with creamy Greek yogurt “frosting” and eaten for breakfast. Skies know, I suck at cooking breakfast more than oatmeal, so it better be ready for me in the morning. Because honestly what…

Tuna Salad With Avocado and Mango

Yes, I went there – I took tuna salad and loaded it with a bunch of fruit, drizzled with tangy homemade full fat yogurt dressing and added a big handful of dill. Now I can enjoy more than just canned salmon salad recipe. Here is my beef with canned tuna – it is dry and flavourless. I’m not like my 10 year old who can eat tuna straight from the can, I think it is bizarre. I buy a 6 pack of tuna (see my healthy Costco shopping list) for kids’…

Avocado Greek Yogurt Dip with Buffalo Sauce

Warning: Completely random thoughts while whipping up majestic fluffy Buffalo avocado dip. Mixing romaine with hot sauce. Frank’s Red Hot sauce smells totally like a pub. Circa 2001. Along with beer, deep fryer’s grease and smoke. You could smoke in bars back then. How much of that did I inhale?! Hot sauce is yummy, the acidic vinegar smells gooooood. I am glad I didn’t add chicken. Anyone can just eat chicken. This dip should be totally veggie loaded. Shock the Super Bowl party food table. Whipping the yogurt with…

Oatmeal Protein Waffles

I’m excited to partner with new Burt’s Bees™ Plant Based Protein Shakes to make a bazillion oatmeal protein waffles. Which can’t be a bad thing, right?! Seriously, breakfast is my biggest struggle. I have said it many times. Usually I’m getting kids ready for school and have zero desire or time to eat. Once the kids are gone, I immediately work out or sit down to work. As a parent you know the value of time. Just like land, they don’t make any more of it. Honestly, breakfasts…

Frozen Greek Yogurt Bites

This post is in partnership with Curate snack bars full of super crunchy quinoa and other simple nutrient-dense ingredients. Good news is summer is unfolding better than I expected. In a sense that I don’t feel like pulling my hair out re: children on a summer break. Kids really grow up. There is truth to everyone saying that although you might not share their feelings at that moment. Yesterday I managed to shop with a friend for 3 hours. It cost me a cookie and an ice cream but…

Pina Colada Protein Milkshake

Let me tell you how I envision my healthy path in 2016 since we started talking about yours. I really upped my game in a smoothie department and I’m shocked how fun it is to whip up different smoothies! Like this pina colada protein milkshake with Nature’s Path Coconut Chia granola, frozen pineapple chunks and Greek yogurt…So-so-so good and who would think to add granola to a smoothie, right?! But it totally works making one heck of a healthy milkshake high in fat, fibre and protein without the protein powder.

Greek Yogurt Tartar Sauce

Last week, while cooking I was watching an episode of “In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita” and he was making a tartar sauce. What happened to good old cooking shows?! Prime TV time has been overtaken by cooking competitions which I personally do not like. I know it is a trend but I honestly do not find it fun to see how 3 people will stuff seaweed inside a chocolate cake to make it tasty. I miss good old cooking shows with Martha, Giada and Rachael. When I…

Healthy Poppy Seed Dressing

As soon as I whisked Greek yogurt with honey for this healthy poppy seed dressing recipe, and did a first taste test, it reminded me exactly of a bottled version I stopped buying years and years ago. Creamy, light, sweet, with a hint of onion and a sea of poppy seeds. There is not much more to say about this dressing except you gotta make it and pour over some organic vegetables, fruits and nuts of your choice => kale blueberry salad. Looking for more healthy creamy salad dressings?…
