When you travel to Cabo San Lucas by plane you actually land in San Jose Del Cabo airport. 10-15 minute drive and you are in San Jose Del Cabo – a small town with a cobblestone streetsย centre, a few big stores and a hotel zone along white sandy beach, emerald blue water and the most beautiful waves ever. A 25 minute drive to Cabo San Lucas is called a tourist corridor, and then you arrive into Cabo itself. So, this is what Baja California peninsula is about for tourists.
Last Saturday night we went to downtown San Jose Del Cabo, which I didn’t realize existed when I first came to Cabo 5 years ago and which was way too hot to visit when we came last September (I just couldn’t force myself to leave the shade of palapa, and why would I spend money on dinner outside of already paid for all-inclusive resort, right?!). The atmosphere was very festive and I suspect this is how San Jose spends every Saturday night which reminded me of celebrations in Ukraine when I was a kid: outdoor concerts showcasingย the culture, street food carts (Mexican street food post is coming next), balloonย vendors and homeless dogs.
Downtown San Jose Del Cabo also offers majestic restaurants, like Casa Don Rodrigo – inย a courtyard of a 150 year old house with live music majestic, art galleries, endless boutiques and shops, and a localย brewery. Warm evening,ย happy people and aย cultural experience – you should visit San Jose del Cabo.
Until next time => Mexican street food!
