Easy chocolate fudge with protein powder recipe. No baking and comes together in 10 minutes. So easy, way easier than the Protein Truffles.
Well, you will have to freeze it for 3 hours but it’s idle time, right?! You can just make more protein fudge while you are waiting for the first batch of fudge to settle in the freezer.
Are you tired of the word “fudge” yet?! OK, I will stop saying “fudge”!
Your teeth will sink into the first fudge square as soon as you cut the slab of this protein fudge. Trust me, you won’t be able to wait longer. It will feel like you are piercing through a piece of sweet and creamy chocolate butter. Gross, I know!
I promise I won’t feed you chunks of butter especially when you are trying to look so gorgeous for the upcoming beach season. I am and IT IS DAMN HARD!!!

Don’t worry, you won’t have to test anything today. This heavenly healthy fudge has been tested on all members of my family including the hosting student from Japan. She too keeps going back to my freezer. If she only knew what she is eating?! So weird compared to the miso soup and rice for breakfast. Isn’t it weird our dinner is their breakfast?! Or wait, the other way around…
Meet Mr. Protein Fudge! Created with nothing but raw ingredients: avocados, cocoa powder, nuts, dried fruits and of course your best dessert recipe buddy – protein powder. Because any dessert is just so better for you when made with extra protein.
Why? Because the next morning when you wake up, the feeling of guilt won’t be eating you inside out. Unless you have an undeniable addiction to a good red wine and last night was Saturday night. Yes, meet Olena. That’s me. That’s why I’m steering my desserts towards the protein powder and trying to avoid wine for now. Damn hard, I mean the wine part.
Anyways, let’s get back to your protein fudge you will be making tomorrow. How could you not want to make it?! Look at it…
Once you take a first bite, your mouth will experience the softness and creaminess of this healthy dessert right away. The fudge will start to melt in your mouth. Your brain will receive signals of satisfaction immediately. Oh, yes!
On a second bite, you will experience the chewiness from dates and the crunchiness from walnuts, in addition to an already sinked in velvety smoothness of this chocolate fudge. If you are lucky or are a big biter, you will experience all these feelings at once.
You know that crunch when you eat soft and chewy granola bars and then suddenly you come across a mini chocolate chip?! That’s what I’m looking forward to when eating any sweets. It has to be either chewy or crunchy. Any kind of dessert. It is just better that way. Soft spongy cakes rarely hit the spot for me unless it’s Vanilla Garbanzo Bean Protein Cake or the Chocolate Protein Cake.
I promise you won’t taste avocado or protein powder at all. You will be asking yourself if you added any sugar to the fudge. No, you didn’t. Instead sprinkle some coarse sea salt on top. You will be glad you did.
A couple things to note. Use parchment paper instead of wax. I used wax paper and parchment paper would have worked better. Don’t use foil or plastic wrap.
No need to clean the knife with water while slicing.
I wish I had cut the fudge into smaller pieces. It is quite high in fat and calories, so I end up walking by the freezer and taking bites of one square for like 4-5 times. As long as I don’t serve it to anyone else it’s no problem. So maybe cut it in smaller pieces. Not that this fat is not a good fat but still…
Keep the fudge in the freezer, not the fridge. It won’t freeze, it’s fat. No need to defrost either. You can satisfy your craving right away. Convenience, that’s what I like about this fudge.
It softens really fast. This particular piece has been out of the freezer for 30 minutes before I took the photo. Too soft. Starts to melt. It’s perfect right out of the freezer.
This chocolate protein fudge is gluten free, vegetarian and could be vegan. Use any vegetarian protein powder.

Have you ever baked with avocado?
First time I ever used avocado in baking was when I made this Chocolate Almond Tart.
- 2 large avocados, pitted and skin removed
- 4 scoops (120 g) vanilla whey protein powder, naturally sweetened
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened
- 1/8 tsp salt + more coarse salt for sprinkling on top (optional)
- 2 + 1/2 cups walnuts
- 1 + 1/2 cups dates, pitted & chopped
- Add avocados, cocoa powder, protein powder and 1/8 tsp salt to a food processor and process until smooth.
- Add 1 cup of walnuts and 1 cup of dates and process until smooth. Add another 1 cup of walnuts (reserve 1/2 cup for next step) and remaining 1/2 cup of dates, and process until smooth. Note: if you think your food processor can handle all nuts and dates at once please go ahead. My KitchenAid couldn't and it kept shutting off.
- Add remaining 1/2 cup walnuts and pulse a couple times. This will give a nice crunch to the fudge.
- Line 8x8 or 8x4 baking dish with parchment paper (not wax paper) and place the mixture from the food processor in it. Press firmly with the back of a spoon or spatula to remove any air.
- Freeze for at least 3 hours. Remove from the pan, slice into 18 squares and sprinkle with coarse sea salt (optional).
