A few weekends ago, I took my kids for a walk and we were passing by neighbour’s house where kids were happily sucking onto bright green and red popsicles. The day was hot and popsicles definitely were hitting a spot. Immediately my mind started racing and it hit me – why don’t I make the same bright and sweet ice pops with fruit?! I don’t know why but I never thought of that, no idea why?! Why oh why LOL.

After we got home, I quickly went through my fruit platter and freezer. Got a few mint leaves from my herb planter. Whipped up 3 batches of cantaloupe, melon and strawberry fruit puree. Froze it in popsicle molds and voila.

By 6 PM my kids were enjoying the same colourful but healthy homemade popsicles. Yours can too!

How to Make Healthy Homemade Popsicles

  3. Ingredients

  • 4 cups ripe and sweet any fruit or berries
  • 12 large mint leaves

Instructions

  1. In a powerful blender, blend all ingredients until very smooth. Pour into 6 popsicle molds and freeze for 3 – 4 hours.
  2. To remove popsicle from the mold, hold it under hot running water for a few seconds (plastic needs more time than stainless steel to come off).

Store: Freeze for up to 3 – 4 months.

Notes

To make 3 kinds (2 each) of popsicles, I used heaping 1 1/4 cups of 3 kinds of fruit.
